A synopsis of the Pterophoridae (Lepidoptera) of the Galápagos Islands, Ecuador Naturalis
Landry, B.; Gielis, C..
The habitus and genitalia are illustrated for the twelve species of Pterophoridae known from the Galápagos Islands (Ecuador). The status of one species is discussed, as it may be the unknown female of Postplatyptilia minima spec. nov. Five species are described as new: Postplatyptilia huigraica, P. minima, Platyptilia nigroapicalis, Oidaematophorus cristobalis and O. devriesi. Redescriptions and/or diagnoses are given for the other seven species. Lectotypes are designated for Pterophorus nephogenes Meyrick and Platyptilia brevipennis Zeller. A key based on adult external features is provided. Four species were found to be possibly endemic to the archipelago. New foodplant records are given for two species.

A taxonomic review of the Pterophoridae (Lepidoptera) from Argentina and Chile Naturalis
Gielis, C..
The known species of Pterophoridae occurring in Argentina and Chile are reviewed. Nearly all the available type specimens of species occurring in the area have been examined and five new synonyms have been established. Some primary types are considered to be lost. In this paper three new genera and 29 new species are described. The adults of all species, and the male and female genitalia are illustrated. The distribution is mapped.

Additions to the knowledge of the Pterophoridae (Lepidoptera) of the Galapagos archipelago, Ecuador, with descriptions of two new species Naturalis
Landry, B..
Two new species of Pterophoridae (Platyptilia vilema spec. nov. and Stenoptilodes gielisi spec, nov.) are described from the Galápagos Islands. Exelastis pumilio (Zeller) is reported from the archipelago for the first time. Seven hostplant records (six of them new) are given for five of the 15 species now found in the Galápagos. Twenty-three new island records are given for species already mentioned from the archipelago.

Asiaephorus gen. nov., a review and description of a new species (Lepidoptera: Pterophoridae) Naturalis
Gielis, C..
A new genus, Asiaephorus, is recognised and described, with Platyptilia sythoffi Snellen, 1903, as its type-species. Asiaephorus sythoffi (Snellen) comb. nov., is redescribed and a lectotype is designated. A second species, A. longicucullus spec. nov., from Nepal, India and Japan is described. The genus has an East and South-Eastern Palaearctic and North Oriental distribution.

Generic revision of the superfamily Pterophoroidea (Lepidoptera) Naturalis
Gielis, C..
The genera of the superfamily Pterophoroidea are redescribed. Three new genera are described: Dejongia, Stockophorus and Shafferia. The characters of the genera and their states are translated into a data matrix. A majority rule consensus tree composed with PAUP serves as a basis for a phylogenetic analysis. A cladogram, representing the views of the author, based on the data acquired, is presented with argumentation. The evaluation of the characters is discussed. A new subfamily is erected, the Deuterocopinae. The Pterophorinae are redefined. The Platyptiliinae are synonymized with the Pterophorinae. The Macropiratidae, considered by Minet (1991) a subfamily or a genus of the Pterophoridae, has been raised to family rank, and is placed as the sister group...

Review of the Neotropical species of the family Pterophoridae, part I: Ochyroticinae, Deuterocopinae, Pterophorinae (Platyptiliini, Exelastini, Oxyptilini) (Lepidoptera) Naturalis
Gielis, C..
The Pterophoridae (Ochyroticinae, Deuterocopinae, Pterophorinae (Tribus: Platyptiliini, Exelastini, Oxyptilini)) species of the Neotropical fauna are reviewed. The species are redescribed. Moths are illustrated in colour for the first time, their genitalia are illustrated in line drawings. The examination of type specimens revealed the presence of four new synonyms: Platyptilia juanvinas Gielis, 1999, is a junior synonym of Platyptilia gravior Meyrick, 1932; Platyptilia jonesi Gielis, 1996, is a junior synonym of Platyptilia semnopis Meyrick, 1931; Oxyptilus maleficus Meyrick, 1926, is a junior synonym of Leptodeuterocopus neales (Walsingham, 1915); Lioptilus parvus Walsingham, 1880, is a junior synonym of Lioptilodes albistriolatus (Zeller, 1871). During...
